For years I have been giving clients on average 2000 edited wedding images. That’s not a guarantee, but for almost all of my weddings so far, it’s a fact. The least amount of high resolution edited images I have ever supplied to a bride and groom was 680 for a mid week 2 hour registry office wedding, but there was still plenty of variety, and loving moments captured.
You see, because I started out in videography, I got to work alongside a lot of photographers, and see how they were doing things. I saw a lot of photographers doing the bare minimum. They saw photography as a job, but I don’t. I see every wedding as an opportunity to create the most unique and best images that I’ve ever created! I pour my heart into that, and I get excited about it! I know how to take all of the standard traditional shots, and what they are, but then I also know how to instruct you to do some fun little game or action, that’s going to create a bunch of candid and fun shots! One wedding, I handed over the bridal party a “Do it yourself balloon animal kit” and said ‘Figure it out, and lets get some fun photos!’ – There are some crazy photos of some very confused bridesmaids and groomsmen trying to figure out how to make poodles, bursting balloons, giggling, and so fourth. They’re some of my favorite shots from that wedding. If my attitude was to get the minimum, I just wouldn’t be able to do what I do. So there may be a few shots taken in the same 10 second period that are similar, but not the same. A lot of photographers have told me over the years ‘Delete the other 9, and just give the clients the best ONE from that minute’ but I couldn’t disagree more! My 3 favorites, and your 3 favorites are not going to be the same, I can assure you! There may be a photo that is just amazing of your fiance, but not the most amazing of you, and some photographers would delete that, but I won’t because that could be the shot of him that you put in your wallet! In the past, I have seen brides upload their favorite images, and none of my favorites were in there! Our favorites were completely different! So if I deleted or didn’t supply you with all the images that weren’t my favorite, I’d be doing you a disservice!

I’m going to add what I call sequence shots, and I’ll do another post on sequence shots too.. stay tuned.
