I often hear brides sharing ideas that perhaps if they get any posed or instructed wedding photographs, that they won’t get candid or photo-journalistic style photographs as well. When I photograph a wedding, I like to think that this is definately not the case. I’ve shared one of my favourite candid wedding photographs taken at a recent wedding in February, but let me first start by saying, look at yourself right now. How nice is your posture? How ready for a phoograph are you? Wouldn’t you love somebody else to give you a little guidance and instruction to help you look your absolute greatest, and most ready for a photo? I know I would!
A wedding day is compiled of literally thousands of seconds… 60 minutes per hour, with weddings lasting anything from 5 hours to 15 hours, and so many moments inbetween. This is how I’m able to capture a great and versatile combination of candid, posed, action, and reaction photographs. Years of experience has taught me how to time reactions, how to prompt emotions, how to be in the right place at the right time.
Sometimes I might ask you to pose, then say something ridiculous on purpose to make you giggle, to get those ‘standing like a model but laughing naturally’ shots.. I want you to look your best and feel your best, and a combination of photo-journalistic wedding photography, candid wedding photography, posed wedding photography, and action and reaction based wedding photography is the best combination to achieve this.
