I had the pleasure of photographing and videoing this Balboa Park engagement shoot San Diego California.

Many Vegas chapels won’t allow photographers. Shocked? Yes it is shocking I will admit! About 40% of the Hotels and Casinos on the Las Vegas Boulevard are owned by MGM Properties. If you get married at any MGM property you absolutely cannot bring your own photographer or videographer. In fact you could be a billionaire and offer them your retirement savings, but they still won’t allow outside wedding vendors.
Another 30-40% of the hotels and casinos on the strip are owned by Caesars Group. Caesars group are actually very generous about allowing brides and grooms to bring their own wedding vendors for a fee.
The rest of the chapels both on and off the strip are either privately owned, or owned by smaller organizations or more independent casino chains, and they make their own rules.

“No photographers.”
How to plan your wedding when your Las Vegas Wedding Venue won’t allow your photographer inside.
A Guide for Brides.

DON’T SWEAT IT!

As somebody who got married in Las Vegas, Las Vegas weddings are close to my heart. I’m also a fan of Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, and Las Vegas has a special place in the heart of the fans of both of those guys! The King of Rock’n’Roll, and The King of Pop!
When you’re planning your wedding in Las Vegas there are all sorts of rules and regulations that you may not be aware of that are specific to Las Vegas only!

Many chapels and hotels will not allow you to choose your own photographer, videographer, florist, or officiant.
Considering that your photography and video are the two things that last the test of time, and last even after both of you have passed away, this is definitely something important to take into consideration. I thought I would create a guide for bride and grooms planning a wedding in Las Vegas as to the wedding chapels and hotels that do not allow you to bring your own photographer, and those that do. Do you have your heart set on a location that doesn’t allow you to bring a photographer? Don’t sweat! There are options. Joshua and I got married at a small Elvis chapel that wouldn’t let us bring our photographer in. We got married at 12 noon, and we had our amazing photographer start at 2pm. I had my heart set on my photographer, but I also had my heart set on my wedding chapel. The ceremony was so short and rushed, that it wasn’t too upsetting that my photographer wasn’t able to come inside. Between 2pm and 7pm we took 5 hours of couples photographs with our photographer around the strip. We also booked the Las Vegas Neon Museum and I had wanted a mix of light and dark photos and wanted to be there right at the hour of sunset, so our photographer timed this well for us. We finished off with photos at the cheesy Las Vegas sign! (How could you not??)
So I don’t want you to worry if you want to choose a venue that has a ban on photographers, you can still have the rest of your day captured.
Choosing your photographer and videographer should be the most important thing on your to do list. Why? Because photos and video last for life.
It’s great to spend a lot of money on a venue, flowers, a dress, but nobody remembers the food a week later. The dress often goes into a cupboard to be forgotten, and it doesn’t matter how beautiful it is if you didn’t get the right photographs. Choose your photographer, then choose your venue based around what they do and do not allow.

Do not fear. If you are getting married at one of the “No outside vendors” wedding venues it does not mean that you can’t have your chosen photographer for the rest of the day.

A Las Vegas wedding photographer like myself is happy to meet you at your hotel room, photograph the detail shots, and your preparation photographs, do any photographs you would like to do prior to the wedding ceremony, and then meet you again after your wedding ceremony for hours of photographs on the strip as well as your reception!
