It’s certainly an uncertain time for everyone with the coronavirus in teh United States having an unknown number of people impacted. We don’t know how quickly this can be resolved, or how long it may continue. This page serves as a guideline for brides planning their weddings, and for photographers to stay safe during the coronavirus challenges.
The purpose of this page is not to serve as medical advice, or to replace the advice of your local city or county regulations or laws. All brides and grooms should check with their local county, city, and state to see what the current laws TODAY are for where you live. I will not be held responsible for plans made with the ideas on this page. This page is to provide brides and grooms with all of their options as well as resources to the current CDC guidelines.
My name is Sky and I’m a photographer and videographer based in North Atlanta Metro area of Georgia. I actually blocked off November 2019 to April 2020 from weddings to focus on baby Scarlett. So I personally don’t have any weddings that I need to attend in March or April 2020, however thousands of brides got married yesterday, March 21st 2020 in the United States, and many brides are unable to postpone their wedding plans for one reason or another. Let’s talk about staying safe in this time.
UPDATE TO GEORGIA REGULATIONS March 23rd to April 6th 2020 Kemp has banned all gatherings over 10 people, and only businesses that can maintain 6 feet of social distancing at all times may remain functional.
Photographers have an advantage of being able to stay a distance away from their brides and grooms while creating captivating images.

Brides and Grooms have options during the CoronaVirus climate. As long as those options comply with the regulations and laws in their local city, county and state, then they should consider their options for their 2021 wedding. Getting Married in 2021? Let’s talk about your options. First and foremost lets be clear and say that we don’t know when this will end. This post was originally written in April 2020 but was updated in September 2020 to reflect future Coronavirus Weddings.
So let’s talk about your options for your 2021 Weddings. I am writing this from Georgia, where we currently don’t have state wide lock downs in place. Please make sure you check with your local laws before making decisions.
Option 1. Cancel your wedding.
Option 2. Postpone your wedding
Option 3. Keep your wedding as scheduled but reduce your guest count to comply with CDC.
If you are considering having a Pop-Up style wedding, then check out our 90 minute packages.
Option 4. Eliminate all guests from your wedding and spend the day having a romantic elopement with hours of beautiful photography in unpopulated areas while your photographer maintains a distance of 8 feet or more. (CDC suggests a distance of at least 6 feet.)
The CDC suggests that older people who are 65 or over stay home. This means if you are planning to adjust your wedding to only include your immediately family and your photographer and officiant that you should ask parents or grandparents who are 65 and over to stay home.
The current guidelines for weddings and events according to the CDC USA is as follows.
As of October 30th 2020 we have shot our final wedding for 2020. Our experience this year is that bride and grooms and their guests are not social distancing or wearing masks. As a wedding photographer in Atlanta I have been wearing a mask and doing my best to socially distance myself from others.
We are currently booking 2022 and 2023 weddings in Atlanta. In conclusion, Sky Simone Photography + Video is willing to work together with brides who have had to reschedule their weddings to comply with lockdowns.
