You’ve all seen them, beautiful photographs of parents crying as they see their daughter in her wedding gown for the first time. What you don’t think about, and nor do your parents.. is that these photographs take planning..
WHAT? What do you mean they take planning?
Having filmed or photographed over 250 weddings, I can tell you that many parents don’t even think about such photos. They don’t know that such beautiful photographs can exist, because in the 60s, 70s, 80s, or 90s when they got married, it wasn’t much of a thing. Perhaps you’re their first child to get married? Or perhaps you’re their first daughter to walk down the aisle?

Mother of the bride + father of the bride get emotional
Ana’s father couldn’t contain his emotions after seeing his daughter in her dress for the first time.
You have no idea how many times I hear parents say to the bride or groom, “Why do I have to get dressed so early? I was going to get dressed 20 minutes before the ceremony!”
Most of my brides prep their parents beforehand, as it’s part of the checklists I provide for my brides and groom. However sometimes I smile and say to the parents “You want these beautiful photographs with your child don’t you?” When they see the images taken they usually fall over themselves in excitement and happiness… Sometimes I say “well aren’t you going to help the bride into her dress? Would you like to do this in your pjamas, or in your wedding outfit?” We all know what the mothers reply!
In the morning during the prep photographs, this is the time that candid moments of emotional release can be captured of the parents, photos with bridesmaids and groomsmen, and last minute jitters…
The father of the bride looks surprised and emotional while the mother of the bride looks so overjoyed with love for her daughter on her wedding day.
